Family History Zur Muhlen of the Bartels genannt Kanning Tree

Frankly it's friday a day for sharing. I recently forwarded this letter from  Dick Kanning to another email. Just a method to preserve the data. Here is a portion of it:

From: "Dick Kanning" Date: Tue, 3 Apr 2001 15:37:26 -0500To: "Meyer"

Subject: Geneology Meyer,The spelling that I have John Zermuehlen is Zur Muehlen. That is the way my grandfather spelled it. They stemmed from Schweringen, near Nienburg, Hanover Province of Germany. The name is also spelled, zur Muhlen with an "umlaut" (") over the "u". Some of the information that I have, tells some history. In 1675 Johann zur Muhlen became the owner of this house in Schweringen. Heinrich Zurmuhlen became the owner. In 1720 .. Dietrich Zurmuhlen became the owner. In 1790 Johann zur Muhlen became the owner and in 1795 Joh. Dierk zur Muhlen, a descendent of Heinrich became the owner Then the house was sold to Friedrich Ernst Nietfeld. Then the house was owned by a Dietrich Heinrich Nietfeld and then sold to Heinrich Meyer in 1876. In 1900 the house was owned by Wilhelm Achmus and then the history of the house ends in 1931. My contact in Germany states that my Grandfather was baptized Diedrich Friedrich August Bartels genannt Kanning. The explanation of Bartels genannt Kanning is that one of his ancestor had married a woman whose last name was Kanning and he had to take over her last name because she owned a house or farm. Kreyershorst is not a village, only a spot with two farmhouses about two kilometers from Anderten. One house belonged to zur Muhlen. This family had only one son and one daughter. The son died at an early age and the daughter married a man by the name of Grauerholz. Now the Grauerholz,s live in Nienburg (Weser). Grauerholz said that the house in Kreyerhorst burned down at the beginning of the century (1900).
Many of the names that you asked about also appear in the Fahrnanville, Iowa Centennial Book published in 1981.....................

I hope that information is of the helpful nature for you. I should send off a Christmas card or letter before Christmas.
That's all for today,  folks.
